Jill Wilson is currently serving as Assistant Professor of Music and Coordinator of Music Education. She conducts Cantorei and teaches several courses, including Elementary Music Methods, Music Education Curriculum and Strategies, Senior Project in Music Education, Music Education Internship, and Middle School General Music Methods. She is currently President-Elect of the Iowa Choral Directors Association and Society for Music Teacher Education Chair on the Iowa Music Educators Association board.
Dr. Wilson holds professional memberships in the National Association for Music Education, American Choral Directors Association, International Society for Music Education, American Orff-Schulwerk Association, Organization for American Kodaly Educators, and Minnesota Society for Music Teacher Education. She has experience teaching at all levels K-12 in public and private schools and, most recently, served on the faculty at Morningside College.
She has been fortunate to travel to state, national, and international conferences to present research on a variety of topics including motivation to participate in large ensembles, intergenerational choirs, informal learning (through garage bands), teacher burnout, professional development, pre-service teacher dispositions, and women’s choirs. Her dissertation was titled “Practices Of and Attitudes Toward Treble Choral Ensembles.” Dr. Wilson adores women’s choir and is grateful to be able to make music with the dedicated, enthusiastic young women who sing in Cantorei.
